West Dunbartonshire and Argyll & Bute

Our West Dunbartonshire and Argyll & Bute branch comprises 23 services, providing various levels and types of support depending on individual need.

Our Carman Centre is a multi-use building in the centre of Renton with great transport links to and from Glasgow. Having the centre as our base enables us to provide a variety of services. The centre comprises several offices and meeting spaces as well a large main hall which divides into two smaller spaces when required. We can facilitate in house training for our staff with the use of hot desks for e-learning as well as space to hold practical sessions such as first aid and epilepsy training. Having such a large diverse space to work with has allowed us to hold events for the people we support and do some great local fundraising for our branch. In the past, we have held pantomimes, fun days, afternoon teas and psychic nights to name a few! The Carman Centre is also a registered Keep Safe location and a registered location for the Period Poverty scheme.

We currently work in partnership with West Dunbartonshire and Argyll & Bute local authorities, Adults with Disabilities and Children's Services, Advocacy and The Prince's Trust, as well as autism, brain injury and mental health teams to support 228 supported people.

Jigsaw is a care at home service which provides 1:1 support and clubs for children and young people in the Helensburgh area. In addition, the service also provides support to a small number of adults, some of them with their own tenancies.

Baxter View is a 24/7 housing support service for adults with autism and complex needs including perceived challenging behaviour. Baxter View supports day to day living for eight individuals, giving them the opportunity to lead an independent and fulfilling life, where respect, dignity and involvement are at the forefront of all decisions. Individuals are supported to make their own choices and achieve outcomes that may not have otherwise been possible. We have seen a reduction in challenging behaviour incidents, due to the continual support of the staff team, consistency and continuity of support provided. Baxter View has achieved and maintained top marks from the Care Inspectorate and we drive ourselves to continue to be the best at what we do and enable the people we support to achieve their future goals.

Our community-based services cover from Clydebank to Balloch, providing 1:1 care at home, support to college, respite for families and a variety of exciting day opportunities and activities. We have 12 housing support services that provide 24 hour care for 20 adults with disabilities, supporting them with all aspects of daily living, personal care, accessing the community and day opportunities.

“Exceptionally attentive practices which supported individual health needs.”
